Questions shop owners ask

If yours isn’t here, email hello@wagtab.com. The people who built it write back.

Running it

What do I need to run it?

A computer, tablet or phone with a web browser. There’s nothing to install. A typical setup is a computer or iPad at the counter and a TV for the grooming board. It can also go on a phone’s home screen like an app.

Does it work on an iPad and on my phone?

Yes. Every screen is laid out for a phone, an iPad and a computer, with touch-sized buttons on the iPad and phone.

What happens if the internet goes down?

WagTab runs in the browser, so it needs a connection. A phone’s hotspot is enough to keep the counter going until the Wi-Fi is back.

Does it work for mobile groomers?

Yes. Set your shop up as a van, a salon or both, then add each van, the areas it covers and its travel fees. Booking counts the drive between stops, and clients book by address. The calendar, client pages, checkout and texts all work on a phone, and the day’s stops open in Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze.

Is it in Spanish?

What your clients see is in English and Spanish: the booking page, receipts, the pay page and every message the app writes. The staff screens are in English for now.

Your clients

Can my clients book online?

Clients ask for a day and time on your own booking page. The request comes to the front desk, and you book it or call them. Nothing lands on the calendar without you seeing it first.

How do texts work, and what do they cost?

The app writes the message (“Biscuit is ready for pickup”) and one tap opens it in your phone’s messages or WhatsApp. It goes from the phone you send it on, so WagTab charges nothing for texts; they’re part of your phone plan. You press send yourself. Clients see the number of the phone or WhatsApp account you send from, so send from the shop’s phone to show the shop’s number.

Will my clients see WagTab, or my shop?

Your shop. The booking page and receipts carry your name, logo and color, and every message is signed with your shop’s name.

Do I have to change how I take cards?

No. Keep the card reader you have and record each payment in WagTab as card, cash or anything else you take. Your processor still charges its usual fee on card sales; WagTab never adds one of its own.

Your data

Can I bring my clients over from my old software?

Yes, along with their pets and visit history, at no charge. You check everything before it’s saved, and the newest import can be undone for 30 days. How switching works

Can I take my data with me if I leave?

Yes. Download any list for Excel, or a full copy of your records (no photos) for your safekeeping, whenever you like.

How do my employees get in?

Make a join code in Settings, under Team, and give it to them or text them the link. They find your shop on this site, tap “I have a code from my boss” and make their own login. Nobody gets in until you or a manager accepts them, and the code decides what they can see.

Who on my staff can see what?

You and your managers see everything. Front-desk staff and groomers see clients and the calendar, but not reports, the books, timesheets or Settings. The grooming-room screen never shows phone numbers or prices, and your accountant’s login sees the books, not your clients.

Where is my data kept?

On Cloudflare, in a database that belongs to your shop alone, separate from every other shop’s. Security and your data

Price and starting

How much is it?

$20 a month or $200 a year for the whole shop, with unlimited staff, groomers, clients and pets. Pricing

Is there a contract or a setup fee?

No to both. Pay monthly or for a year, and stop any time. Your plan runs to the end of what you’ve paid for and isn’t renewed.

How do I start?

Tap Start free and set up your shop with no card. Bring your clients over, and pay once you go live. The first five shops pay nothing, for life.

Who helps me when something’s wrong?

We do, by email at hello@wagtab.com. We answer within one business day, Monday to Friday, Eastern time. You’ll be writing to the people who build WagTab, not a ticket queue.
